What it does

Features

This is what GreenFinch does today, written from the product rather than from a plan. If something you need is missing from this page, assume it is missing from the product, and read the end of the page before you decide.

Your storefront

A public shop on the subdomain you choose when you register. Your customers get pages, not a login screen.

  • Your logo, your favicon, two brand colors and a font, applied across every page of the shop.
  • A home page with promotional banners and a row of images you control, each one live only when you publish it.
  • An About page carrying your story, contact email and phone, address, time zone and opening hours.
  • Branding and the About page are edited as a draft and stay private until you press publish, so a half-finished rewrite is never on show.
  • Pages are rendered on the server, so a visitor receives real HTML instead of waiting for a script to draw the shop.

Catalog and orders

Everything you sell, and everything that has been ordered, in one place.

  • Products with a name, description, SKU, price, stock count and a low-stock threshold, switched active or inactive when you choose.
  • Categories you create, rename and reorder yourself, used to filter the shop.
  • A cart and a checkout that work for a signed-in customer and for a guest who gives nothing but an email address.
  • Stock comes down the moment an online order is placed, and the last one in stock cannot be sold twice.
  • Every order in one list with its line items, where it came from, and a status you move through Pending, Paid, Fulfilled, Cancelled and Refunded.
  • A guest who ordered without an account gets a private link for looking that order up again.

Appointments

For the half of your business that is measured in hours rather than units. Set the rules once and let the booking form enforce them.

  • Services with a description, a price and a duration, and the staff members who are allowed to perform each one.
  • A profile for each staff member and a weekly schedule saying which days they work and between what hours.
  • Time off by date range, for a holiday, an illness, or an afternoon you simply want blocked out.
  • Opening hours per day, published on your storefront so customers see them before they ask.
  • Every booking request is checked against your opening hours, that person’s schedule, their time off and what is already in the calendar. A request that fits none of them is refused rather than quietly accepted.
  • Bookings move through Pending, Confirmed, Completed, Cancelled and No-show, and you set the status.
  • Booking requires a customer account. Buying does not, but appointments do.

Counter sales

Most small shops sell in person as well as online. The portal records that half too, so one list is the whole day.

  • Pick an existing customer or mark the sale a walk-in, add products and quantities, and see the total as you go.
  • Prices are taken from your catalog at the moment you record the sale, not typed in by hand.
  • The sale lands in the same order list as your online orders, labelled so you can always tell the two apart.
  • A counter sale does not adjust your stock counts. If you sell the last one over the counter, the storefront will still offer it until you correct the number.

Customers and messages

The people who buy from you, and the conversations you have with them, without a second inbox to watch.

  • Customers register on your storefront, keep their own name and phone number up to date, and look back over what they have ordered.
  • A signed-in customer can open a conversation from your shop’s contact page.
  • You read, answer, assign and close those threads in the portal, so a colleague can pick one up where you left it.
  • These are threads inside GreenFinch. GreenFinch does not email or text your customers on your behalf, so a thread is answered where it was started.

The portal that runs it

One place to work from, whoever is working.

  • A dashboard that opens on what is outstanding: orders still to handle, who is working today, how many threads nobody has answered, and what is in your catalog.
  • Logins for the people who work with you, invited by name and email.
  • Permissions granted one at a time across catalog, pricing, branding, customers, scheduling and your team. A new colleague starts with none until you say otherwise, and an owner always has all of them.
  • It works on a phone, and it has a dark mode for the people who close up at night.

What it does not do yet

A shop is not something you move into twice, so here is the honest half of the page. These are not switched off for your plan. They are not built, and we would rather you found that out here than a week after you signed up.

It does not take payment

Checkout records the order and tells you about it. No card is charged and no money reaches you through GreenFinch. You collect payment the way you do now and mark the order paid.

It does not run a points scheme

Nothing in GreenFinch awards a point when somebody buys, and nothing redeems one. Treat loyalty as not built rather than as switched off.

It does not take your own domain

Every shop is on a GreenFinch subdomain that you choose. Bringing a domain you already own is not something you can do today.

It does not discount a total

There is no mechanism that reduces what a customer owes at checkout.

It does not send to your customers

Beyond a few account emails such as a password reset, GreenFinch sends no email and no text messages on your behalf. There are no automatic order or booking confirmations.

It does not report on your numbers

The portal counts what is open in front of you. It does not chart revenue, compare months or rank your products.

Still a fit?

Plenty of shops sell online, book their week and talk to their customers without ever needing the platform to hold the money. If that is you, everything above is waiting.
